Gmail, a revolutionary email service which was started by Google around 3years back may be having plans to take their service offline, Hindustan Times claims (from their reliable sources) that Gmail is in the process of making an offline Gmail from which gmail users would be able to to browse, reply, save drafts and do everything that currently Gmail does in an offline mode. All this without any internet connection.

whats the difference between offline gmail and Outlook express which has always been there?

Think of the possibilities….

including google docs and spreadsheets offline.

Picasa (already available offline)

Offline Blogger

Orkut (social stream)

Youtube

and everything else that google may eventually buy over ;-)

Use all google services offline which can be auto synchronized from their online counterparts.

The ground for Gmail Offline was set on March 31 this year when Google launched Google Gears, an open-source technology platform under which software developers could create offline Web applications.

According to HT "A Google spokeswoman in India officially denies such a thing" but they (HT) still feel that it is on its way.
