Globus, the Rajan Raheja group’s fashion apparel retail chain, is planning to open 130 stores across 70 cities in the next five years, reports Business Standard. That should be an investment of around Rs 800 crore.

Well the group is also planning to launch an e-commerce portal around October for brand promotion and eventual sales. "The online model is comfortable for our audience. We want to leverage on our brick-and-mortar model on the e-commerce platform. A section of the stores will be available on the portal,” Globus CEO Vinay Nadkarni said.

I don’t really see a Fashion Apparel site being successful in India. I doubt a customer would want to spend more than Rs 500 on any apparel without touching, feeling and trying it out. The site could be used as an information channel to make prospective buyers aware of hottest deals, newest products etc.
