If not BLOG should your CEO - PODCAST?
There has been much hallabalu about why a CEO should blog and how effective it would be for his company and the companies public both stake holder’s and consumers.
What if your company CEO is not a good writer?
What if his speeches leave people hanging on too every word he says as compared to his letters?
Even better what if he has an enticing voice?
Not everyone is a born writer, while some people can express their thoughts more effectively through speech than through written words. So should your CEO PODCAST instead of BLOG?
Advantages of a CEO Podcasting.
- The podcast can help him Emphasis on particular points with much ease as compared to putting it on paper.
- It could be effectively used as an Internal Communication Tool.
- Ceo’s are known to be able to conveniently give speeches, so talking away shouldn’t be a problem.
- It could be an apt tool for Employee Motivation.
- Say your company just cracked a huge deal thanks too a few very hard working employee’s. What if the CEO took a MP3 sound recorder, announces that the company has got the deal and credit the team for their work. After that all he needs to do (or get someone to do is) Upload the mp3.
By Doing this not only has he let his company employees and other public that visit his site to know of the companies latest achievements, his appreciation of his employee’s work will act as a booster for the rest of the employee’s. A great HR exercise eh?
- By podcasting – you hear it straight from the horse’s mouth. Lets take for example the COKE and PEPSI pesticide issue – The CEO could sit and record a huge podcast (either audio or video) and explain to his public about it. It could get Viral; it could be pushed through Different Online Mediums. Do I smell a Gain- Gain Situation?
Disadvantages.
- Unlike Blogging were editing is as easy as pressing backspace, editing a podcast would require some sounding editing knowledge.
- It would also require knowledge of how to put up a podcast.
- If the CEO is not comfortable with impromptu talking, may be he would have his script ready, which would invariably take more time. Are you saying rather just take the script and Blog it?
Blogging and Podcasting are the same sides of the coin; they both stand good in their own place. It invariably comes down too what is the CEO comfortable with Talking or Writing?
If I were given an option I’d choose Podcasting, what about you?

If the CEO is not good at communicating, he can ask his secretary to write a speech and the CEO can read and record it. So it will become easy for him to podcst
The CEO of a firm recording a podcast and it being distributed through a CD or on the local server is a practice which has been around for Donkey's years.
What exactly is this post about again then?
The post is very centric to the Indian Audience, where podcasting is in its very nascent stage.
Thanks for pointing out the different uses of having a podcast! :))
