People Interactive group finally launches Makaan.com
The Real Estate site from the Shaadi.com group has finally been launched. The site which was to be named 2bhk.com has finally gone live under the name Makaan.com.
Possible reasons:
Let us be real – Common Sense is not too common. Many would consider 2bhk as a site which only lists 2 Bedroom Hall Kitchen apartments.
Imagine hearing this from your colleague – Arre kal maine do achche 3 bhk’s dekhe on 2bhk. (I saw 2 decent 3 BHK’s on 2 BHK). WHAT!?
This is something we even talked about with some guys from People Interactive at a Bloggers meet in Mumbai some months back.
Well they’ve even chosen a new logo than the earlier Makaan logo:
The current .com in the new logo captures the Independence day feeling…
Well how’s the site?
It’s nice and clean. Unlike the other Real Estate sites I reviewed in the Real Estate Shoot-Out.
But that’s probably because there are not many advertisers as of now. It should definitely get cluttered soon…
They’ve already got a decent number of listings to start off with.
I searched for: To Rent/Lease, Residential Property in Mumbai Andheri-Dahisar for less than Rs.5000 with min 1 bedroom
And got around 80 results.
Mayank Gupta has a small introductary review up at ReviewSaurus. We’ll do an in-depth analysis and how it compares with MagicBricks, 99Acres and IndiaProperty after a couple of months. It would be unfair to start comparing them with these established players as of now.
An interesting thing is that the site is mirrored at 2bhk.com and is not just an auto-forward to Makaan.com.
It would be interesting to see how a site which offers only 2 bedroom hall kitchens would perform. Another niche opportunity within a Real Estate market which is getting highly crowded.

The site indeed has come as a breezer with clutter free pages. True that the interface will be reflected after couple of months when they will have advertisements on the pages.
Nice thing as you said rightly is the number of results. Seems makaan people has been working on it quite smartly. Its pleasant to see quite a number of listings on DAY 1.
