We have featured a few virals before and some of them have been good while the others aren’t so great. But the best thing about virals is that they bring almost instant results for the brand that is behind the viral and also they are very cost effective as they are user forwarded.

The company that strongly associates itself with some award winning virals in India is Webchutney. Ive been an admirer of their work right from the chidya udi campaign which won the numberous accolades and awards. I also felt that sometimes their work was great but wasnt the most effective for a client brand i.e. the makkadman viral for desimartini.

Their latest work comes in the form of Mirinda get smooched viral. The Viral like a typical hindi movie starts with a damsel in distress and the hero drinks mirinda fights off goons to save the girl and finally gets smooched.

A little lame if you ask me. :( Do pour in your thoughts on the viral. I feel indian agencies still used cliched stories and hooks to get viral impact. I think an innovative and fresh approach to brand oriented engagement could bring much better results rather than tongue in cheek humour which is repetitive. Hope webchutney does better work in the next one!
