Brand Recall through Online Video Ads higher than TV Ads?!!

Online Video ads weren’t that popular till youtube came on to the scene and revolutionised and democratized the power of video content creation and distribution.

With the acquition by google came the introduction of Video ads which started picking pace. The first agency to use google video advertising in India was Interactive Avenues which made us ask whether video advertising was the future. Recently we showcased on WATblog the ways in which youtube plans to monetize its site with innovative video ads.

According to research agencies Video ads that are streamed online are far more effective in terms of brand recall when compared to their Television counterpart. An online Video ad gives a brand recall of 84% as compared to the same comercial having a brand recall of 54% on television.

Players in India that are using video ads effectively are Nautanki.tv which recently announced a new video player which brings IP targeting, Demographic detailing, Timeband optimization and Clickability on video ads into picture.

As the broadband penetration in the country evolves i expect the online video advertising to be adopted in a big way and also expect a lot of innovative execution in this space.
