Yahoo MD George Zacharias Resigns to pursue Entrepreneurship!

Well well when the MD of one of the largest portals Yahoo India in the country decides to resign for pursuing what is being called  "his own entrepreneurial interests" then its sure a sign that the internet is booming!

george zachariasAnd im sure more and more companies are finding it difficult to hire good middle and top management people in the internet and mobile space. With the overflow of availability of capital and the industry being nascent with only a few having "years" of experience there is enough reason why many mid and senior level employees are wanting to start out on their own.

In probably one of his last statements made as MD of Yahoo India George Zacharias said “Yahoo!  India  has  been growing at a robust pace and the journey has been both challenging and rewarding. This decision has been a tough one but as I leave  a  well –oiled, strong leadership team and move on to set up a young organization,  I  wish to thank Yahoo! for all the support during my tenure and  know  that  Yahoo! India will continue to scale greater heights as the leading internet company in this country,”

I see the internet and mobile space moving towards an acute talent crunch when it comes to knowledgeable staff with the right skills as many startups are on over expansion mode with funding backing them and not enough has been done to educate the youth or professionals from other medias regarding the excitement and possibilities that surround this space.

I guess, George Zac has fallen for the Reorg. Yahoo had undertaken some months back. Yahoo India though is on top, but George i guess got into a mess with Legal issues with Sify on Poaching. I understand Sify has sued Yahoo in the US courts for the same. wish him the Very best in the new Venture ! There is also a Talk he may join the Retail business as he has come in from there in 2000 ! Retail is the only industry that may afford him a $1M Per annum ?
