Business 2.0 magazine has come out with a list of the Best Non-US web 2.0 websites that are promising and could make waves in the future. So among the list of 30 best Non-US web 2.0 startups there are 3 Indian ones which make the cut.
First being Burrp.com a lifestyle localised search player which we have mentioned many times previously on WATBlog.com. There is also Pixrat - A picture sharing site which was previously owned by RHR Networks which were bought over by MIH India. We had covered pixrat in our India 2.0 series earlier. Besides for the the above two there is also Khichdee.com which is termed as the Indian craiglist.
Its surprising to see that both techtribe and minglebox i.e. the two "funded" web 2.0 sites dont find a place in the above list. Also something very interesting is that Joost is in the list as well. Joost is a UK based video site which enables the broadcast of TV-quality video over the Internet, and allows people to stream real TV programs from networks like MTV and National Geographic. It is a 45 M$ funded startup with over 1 million beta testers using the site!
I think web 2.0 is still beginning to gain ground in India as experienced developers in india still belong to the web 1.0 era and thats why india’s largest internet portal like rediff took so long to launch something like ishare. I see India coming up with more and more evolved web 2.0 and social media applications in the future.

More than these companies what a great reflection on the great nation of India. It makes me proud that out of 30, 10% were Indian companies! I hope this makes big news in big papers and tv
good to see sites making mark. however, one site i found to be really interesting is http://www.clickindia.com
good site for classifieds.
