Yesterday Hewlett Packard (HP) organized an event to unveil its new Compaq logo along with some new products offerings under the Compaq portfolio.

Well this move by HP was to position its Compaq brand of computers as a cheap yet stylish option for the masses. And who else would you want to endorse your brand - if you are looking at reaching the masses? The King Khan of course.

The logo though looks to be highly inspired by the Nokia NGAGE QD logo. Have a look:

Shahrukh Khan graced the event and talked about the vision of the ‘Kal Tumhara Hai’ campaign. How he wants to help empower us and wants our dreams to come true…A campaign which is ‘very close to my heart’.

Apart from the usual media questions about Compaq et al, we managed to ask him something about blogging and what he thought about it and would he consider blogging to interact and engage with his fans on a more personal level?

I can either work hard or blog,’ said Mr. Khan. He went on the say that he didn’t really have the time to personally write. ‘Perhaps when I’m looking at retiring, I’ll start writing.’

By the way Aamir Khan has become a rather regular writer on his blog.

  1. All the three blogs you have mentioned do not have feeds, someone should consult them how to enable feeds for their blog to attract more and regular readers

  2. they hire a costly actor for a cheap yet stylish option for the masses,
    How funny

  3. That's actually normal marketing sense.

You need a person who appeals to the masses to sell products in India.

Though Compaq insists…Shahrukh is not a mere endorser but actually a believer of technology and has genuine concerns about 'Kal tumhaara hai' and was part of the team which crafted the campaign.

I wonder if Shahrukh was as deeply engaged with Masterstroke whiskey?! Encouraging the youth to drink whiskey, rather than participating in Indian Idol events! (H)
