Wow,

Searching 29000 fake or pornographic profiles must be really tough, but they (MySpace) managed to delete all of them.

Although it may have taken initial push from the users (or parents), MySpace has gone ahead and done it.
Orkut a social network which needs no introduction is starting to loose its hold on its users. Orkut has over 63million users worldwide, India being the 2nd most active country on Orkut and major population being 15-25.

Some of the reasons could be that Facebook or other social networks are better, but one of the big reasons could also be the porn and fake profiles that have been rapidly been increasing on Orkut. It’s a turn off for users who are actually trying to make and meet new friends. Ask a girl how many times she may have been scrapped by strangers saying “I Want Your Friendship” and when you go on their profile page you come across all these sleazy communities that they are members to.

In our earlier article “Facebook will be the next Orkut in India.. Unbelievable? Read on..” we have mentioned how Orkut has now become Pornkut.

People come to hang out and have fun not to get spammed on their network with porn links.
“The families of several teenage girls sexually assaulted by MySpace members sued the service in January for failing to safeguard its young members.” (Source - tech2.com )

Orkut better start taking some active interest before they loose more users and come to a point where when they too get sued by users or families.

“MySpace attracts about 60 million unique visitors monthly in the United States.”
If MySpace can do it so can Orkut, Size should be no excuse.
