Mahesh,

Thanks for those words of encouragement. Surely, all entrepreneurs out here would like to concentrate on innovation without bothering about monetization. But please don't give example of facebook in india. The model etc is very different.

You know when we approach VCs with zero revenues, what they say? Hmmm looks interesting send me your presentation, i will go through it. And you never hear from that chap again.

My advice to fellow entrepreneurs, don't copy web 2.0 models, look for transaction based models, because the day you start company you will be all alone. :$

Somtimes I feel, why do users log on more on a non Indian based/made SNS than an Indian ones. There are plenty of Indian SNS, which have got little or no traction. Would WatBlog mind writing down an article/research on what drives the people onto facebook rather than desimartini ( which, lets agree is a FB - early 20007 clone)....

"(Currently more than 65 million applications are already created for Facebook in the first month itself! Which is increasing interactivity beyond imagination.)"

^Rajiv, you may have misread the sourced article as there is only about 30 million users on FB in all...so 65 million different apps is a bit of a stretch...the real number is probably close to a few thousand apps at max.

The article (URL given below) is actually saying that 65 million (not unique) apps are being used in all by members of FB...most of the members are using the same apps (which make up a bulk of that 65 million).

Still love your blog though - though I disagree with FB being the next big SN website of India o(:-)

Facebook now becomes Platform and Platform Win's over applications because Platform is like Planet and Applications like People. People can't compete Planet.

All Indian Social networking site will eventually fadeout because of FaceBook Platform. Because Facebook is one stop for all even its a Biggest threat to Yahoo.

FaceBook gives you call in one ranging from Online Storage, Music Player, Stock Listing, Horoscope, Jobs, Shopping, MicroPayments [about to come], Dating, Photo sharing etc. In coming days, Web 2.0 will be built on top of FaceBook.

Indian SNS needs to innovate, many people are much hasty in monetization instead of providing value to user. None of Indian SNS are useful to User.

All indian SNS are just database of profile including the Orkut.

Facebook founder Mark is in Constant Touch with Ray Ozie the New CSA of Microsoft and The Guy behind Complex software Lotus Notes.

I got random messages of orkutdesi.com from some anonymous telling me that "if you pass this message [contains orkutdesi.com] you will get gift voucher". Think of them the way of advertising and promotion, it made me sick of such CRAP message and advertising process, albeit i like advertising much IFF its contains innovation just like DoubleClick, aQuantive, adify, etc.

I am fed up with some indian sites which claims web 2.0 and leveraging web 1.0 essence.

All indian entrepreneurs please concentrate on high quality designs and work some innovative designs. You can imitate western designs.

Target users don't look for back end, its about front end. Dont try to start Monetizing the day you launch the site, concentrate on solving the problems of people [just like digg as against to slatdot].

Even there is a lot of scope in Job portal. None of indian job portal addressed the problem of frustrated Fresh Graduates.

In order to survive think breathe talk and sleep innovation creativity. This is all for wannabe indian entrepreneurs.

FaceBook will win in India too.

Think again.
