Firstly a big sorry to all readers for not being able to Live blog Blogcampune. No excuses but only reasons for our laziness.. We were hounded by journalists who wanted to know more about Corporate blogging, Revenue from Blogging, WATConsult and what it does, the announcement of Rediff Blogshowcase and lastly the lack of power in our laptops and bad connection speeds.

Now that were done being defensive lets get down to reviewing the Blogcamppune. This is what all happened at the Blogcamp pune.

Firstly the event kicked off late with crowd trickling in at around 10 instead of 8.30 and then there was this speech by Tarun Chandel (the man behind the event) on what is an unconference and what should one expect. Before the start of the unconference sessions there was an introduction session which showed that there was an equal number of new and veteran bloggers. Though some big names were missing.

Here are a list of some of the sessions and discussions that took place.

Sponsor Sessions

  • Purple Nova’s marketing head Milind Pandit introduced the company’s latest ‘do-it-yourself web-hosting technology’
  • Sulekha.com’s Sudhir Syal spoke about blog print, the website’s attempt to take blogs into the print medium
  • Rediff.com launched its ‘blogshowcase’ (platform to showcase their blog) http://blogshowcase.rediff.com.

Bloggers spoke on varied topics ranging from how can one commercialize his or her blog to the negative impacts of blogging. The session on negative impacts of blogging by Mumbai based blogger Melody was liked by many.

On the whole it was a nice attempt at organising the camp for the first time in pune and there was a lot of media (offline) to cover the event but what can be learned from this times blogcamp is that they needed better management of the sessions and also separate time slots of sponsor sessions from others.
