AOL and TV18 launch tech websites.
Email It!
Aol recently launched a website called Switched.com. it’s a Gadget and tech related website. The UI is good. Everything is clearly categorized making it easy to navigate. They have separate categories like camera, audio/video, Cell phones etc. the talk about the latest gadgets, tech stuff and latest news revolving around such similar companies. Although it may seem like Cnet.com on the first shot, they have this interview category which just makes it so much better.
They have interviews with celebrities from different fields like musicians asking question relating to the gadgets they currently have e.g. (mobile phone) and what they like and dislike about it and what is their next tech gadget and other such questions. Makes you feel a part of the conversation and is written in a very simple language.
"We realized there were plenty of sites targeting hardcore technology users, but none existed that cut through industry jargon to serve the average consumer. Switched.com provides users with basic gadget news they need to navigate the ‘wired’ and ‘unwired’ world and delivers compelling content to mainstream consumers," said Lewis D’Vorkin, Senior VP, AOL News & Sports.
I really like the way they link their news with normal day to life happenings like Paris Under House Arrest: How It Works. it makes so mush sense to keep it simple and interesting and relate it to real life circumstances.
