Postmen upset with Zapakmail ad.. Forces zapak to recall ad
Internet is fast becoming a medium that seems to be upsetting someone or the other. So after the orkut vs shiv sena saga (which is still heating up with google being told to block orkut and google refusing to do the same as i last read in an offline article) comes the postman vs zapakmail saga.
To know about why postmen in the country are upset with zapakmail have a look at this ad..
The above ad tries to shows how zapakmail is faster than ordinary mail. This ad and the positioning of zapak mail upset The Indian Post and Telegraph Services sent a letter of objection to Zapak Mail. Zapak on receiving the complaint has agreed to pull the advertisement off-air.
Arun Mehra, chief marketing officer, Zapak Mail said the following to agencyfaqs, “The TVC compares two e-mail services – and not a postman with Zapak Mail as it is being perceived.” Despite being clear on their stand, the company is taking corrective measures to ensure that no damage is done to the sentiments of the postal department.
Though the ad might be taken offline its a perfect example of the trends to come. Email over the years has revolutionized communication and I can surely vouch for the fact that as an entrepreneur my paperwork and postal work is practically nil on a daily basis all due to email. Though i cant really comment if zapakmail is the fastest or not (I use gmail) but email on the whole has been a boon both for business and personal communication. Though lets not forget the fact that email can’t reach everywhere so in India the significance of postmen and their work cannot be undermined. Afterall there are General Post Office and a Telegraph Office in Leh (Ladakh which is 10000 feet above sea level). Im not sure internet has reached those places as yet.
