CNN News available on reliance mobile handsets

Live streaming news form CNN will be viewable on reliance CDMA handsets. Reliance has tied up with the news network of Turner International CNN.

How does it work??
Reliance receives channel feeds from CNN on their server after which it is transmitted to reliance mobile handsets wirelessly thus enabling live streaming.
This full process does cause a 1-2sec lag, but nothing to complain about.

“For today’s consumer, time is a rare commodity, and with technology swiftly changing the traditional means of news and entertainment consumption, it is imperative to be present on platforms that are easily accessible by our target audience.” said Siddharth Jain, vice-president of distribution and business operations (India and South Asia), Turner International India, in a statement announcing the partnership.

Reliance’s last tie-up was with Sun TV, which now streams live on the portal, along with nine other channels, including CNBC-TV 18, Times Now and NDTV. Reliance will be the first Indian company to stream CNN news on a mobile handset. Currently reliance mobile subscribers have access to latest wallpapers video clips etc which is available on their R-World application on their handset. The Turner network will also provide downloadable games ringtones wallpapers etc and other services.

CNN is also the first international news channel to partner with Reliance. In addition to online streaming of CNN news, hollywood express episodes will also be streamed on the mobile, providing hollywood news and updates.
