Its not BIG its chintee for Reliance

Well the new venture of Reliance group is called Chintee.com. Chintee in English refers to ants. After Big Adda and Big Flicks Reliance is all set to come up with a search engine as speculated (We may be wrong also). However if one types only chintee.com it is directed to the Big Adda site. Its only when you type the full address i.e www.chintee.com you will be directed to the real site.

As the name refers to Chintee (ants crawl) so it may be a web crawler. The site hasn’t been launched yet but if one visits the site, he/she is asked to vote for the logo. The same strategy was adopted by Reliance in Big Adda as well. In fact the logos look quite creative. One can also start a blog on chintee again similar to Big Adda blogs which was a way to receive feedback from users and engage them pre launch. However some blog posts have been spammed throughout which is not appreciated at all (It seems like Reliance guys are focusing on Big adda right now and chintee is on hold). But nevertheless the Reliance guys should know this and should do something about it (a simple spam blocker should work).

We had recently blogged about Big Flicks saying that it had appointed Law & Keneth as the creative agency and the account size was pegged at over 10 crores. Similarly with Guruji, another Indian search engine got funded 7 Million US $from Sequioa. Lets see how chintee fares if it turns out to be a search engine. The competition among the local search engines will heat up with a lot of new players such as Swamii, Justdial, Dwaar, Onyomo, ByIndia and many more ready to give a competition to Guruji.

It is also interesting to note that both Big Adda and Big Flicks has funded competition in Minglebox and Seventymm 7 million and 9 million of funding respectively. So with chintee.com, it would add one more market that has a funded player i.e. Guruji.

I get to differ :) It's surely another social bookmarking or any such site that thrives on user generated content. By chintee (any case they should have spelt it as cheentee) or ant they are indicating the "pheromone trail" of ants that the whole Blogging, collaborative web and the "wisdom of crowds" is all about.

If they wanted to reflect web crawler, Makkadi would have been a better option.
The problem with choosing the hindi words in English is there are way too many variations.
    May be they should register
