Namaste India - Opera now in Hindi
A full-fledged Hindi net browser? That’s what we were expecting. But after downloading the application from the Hindi microsite, I was left rather disappointed. Hindi wasn’t listed…
You can download the Hindi Language File though and patch it to a certain extent.
in.opera.com now leads you to a completely Hindi page, with their product details.
It’s rather Shudh-Hindi! Nashulik Adbhiran!? I’d need a Hindi-English translator to understand that.
"India is a key market for Opera with tremendous growth in both Internet users and mobile subscribers," say Opera.
It would be nice to see a full-fledged Opera Hindi browser out soon, which has English-Hindi in-built dictionary and other direct translation facilities.

Pragati is based on the Firefox Browser and is enhanced with features to assist the native Hindi user to surf the web. It’s one of the first Hindi browsers and has an Inline built-in English-Hindi dictionary.
Then theres, FirefoxHindi, they even guide you on ‘How to localize Mozilla Firefox’.
FirefoxinHindi is the localization of Firefox in India’s national language, Hindi.
There was Mozilla Hindi before this, but the co. which made it (Digi-Help) got taken up by DWS Media. The page says Mozilla Hindi is now available via Ushtaank Software, but their page refuses to open up currently.

Ridiculous! These guys are using the same kind of Hindi that almost killed it and that still makes people using it, feel awkward. These people must understand that heavyweight sarkaari terminologies like "Adhibharan" doesn't work and "Download" written in Hindi makes a better sense. If only they had just browsed through the Hindi blogs and a few Hindi newspapers to get an idea. But then, all such organizations offload translation work to unknown companies where computer illiterates translate word-to-word with dictionaries by their side and without caring if anybody would ever read their work. Frustrating really!
