BharatMatrimony adds voice to matrimonials!

Not so long ago we had a indepth analysis on the matrimony space through the matrimony shootout. Now it seems this space is set to become even more interesting with portals coming out with new features to lure the wannabe brides and grooms.
Bharatmatrimony has taken the lead by introducing something called a Voice Matrimony which is an interactive service for marraige partner seekers. Voice matrimony is an outcome of a tieup between BharatMatrimony, Airtel and OnMobile as its telecom partners.
With the help of this service any Bharatmatrimony user can listen to another member’s voice profile. Registered users a can record their voice and reply to the voice messages received. Only Paid Members can send voice messages to other members. We had mentioned in the matrimony shootout about the lack of page views when it comes to BharatMatrimony and hence this new feature looks like a great feature to make bharatmatrimony a more interactive platform especially as voice matrimony enables users to record their voices through mobile phones (which by the way has one of the fastest growing subscriber base in India).
Along with voice matrimony Bharatmatrimony has also started Online Diary and Travelogue of sorts based around Honeymoon experiences. Though im not really sure how many couples would be ready to share their honeymoon experiences in India but its is surely an interesting way to involve the users and keep them coming back and contribute to the site even after they are married.
I am wondering when we would see the use of Video profiles on these matrimony sites?? I mean after all nothing like seeing a 1-2 minute video of your probable life partner before making the decision of whether or not would you liek to meet him or her? Also a video profile could be an extremely viral way to promote your services as well that is if they ever allowed the video’s to be embeddable. It would be interesting to see the matrimony battle as both broadband and mobile reach improves in India. I expect shaadi, Jeevansaathi and Simplymarry to look at better ways of including interatctivity in their sites in the days ahead.

Voice and Video are both awful ideas. The most important thing in determining whether I want to meet someone is 'trust' - especially for parents browsing profiles for their daughters and sons. Features like reviews, recommendations and the sort that can cultivate confidence and trust in someone's profile will do much better
Videos are good for porn sites - not for finding matches. Ofcourse 20-year olds will love it, but it wouldn't drive any more wedding matches
Though i buy your point that reviews and ratings would be important in the Indian Scenario there would be reviews only from friends which are bound to be positive.. Check orkut. A video is that 1 level above as far as seeing the person is concerned. AFter all if you didnt know most profiles are matched by users by profile criteria's like hieght, age, salary, caste and ofcourse looks would be as important as the above. Which is where a video helps. Also if you didnt know video's are already finding their way into the recruitment space in the way of online video resumes. So video's aren't only for porn!
Being a member of matrimony sites wanted educate WATBlog.
The logged in members are taken to respective regional domains (hindimatrimony, marathimatrimony, etc) and that's why you see less page views in BharatMatrimony. All the member activities taking place in respective regional sites and BharatMatrimony is just entry point to regional sites.
Both BharatMatrimony and Shaadi is having video profiles but it won't pick up as people are shy infront of camera.
We stand educated! We had members posting the same thing as a comment even in our shoot-out post. We respect your views.
Thanks!
Well maybe then they have not focussed on making sure that the video feature is publicised well and used by users. Im Sure shaadi has a lot of NRI users who should have a much better internet connection. I think its time they started pushing video before there is another matrimony player who uses that as a USP. Remember its the one who positions itself betters in the eyes of the user would be the preferred player. And thanks for the information on the video profiles (I think if and when im looking for a partner and if i do use an online matrimonial id surely be more open to a video)
How many things have we really bought after looking at the video profile? houses? hotels? cell phones?
I am not saying video is a bad idea, its ill-conceived and mis-prioritized. When someone refers a girl for a match, the first question we ask is "How does she look" (read:photo), next is "How is she as a person" (read: reviews), then "Family", education, etc. I can't imagine anyone asking how she walks and how she talks - which is where video helps.
Recruitment space - again videos are ill-conceived. People search resumes by keywords, because there are thousands of them. Imagine watching videos. It might be the current trend, but to me, its a stupid bubble.
Voice clips make a person's profile more interesting and more attractive. Things are easier said than written. How many people will have the patience to go thru each and every sentence of the description column? By using the voice clips a person can be more natural and expressive.
And the video clips…saves a lot of embarassment for girls who dread the 'girl seeing ritual'. One can also easily judge the body language and the personalilty of the prospective match to suit their tastes.
Neat move. Way to go Bharat Matrimony.
It is a great idea to upload your voice profile. More than giving a brief up about yourself in text format, the voice profile can bring in more emotions to share with your would-be (could-be) spouse
Further in 2 minutes time you can talk what has to be written in about 1 to 2 pages and not many people have the time to go through the pages fully
Only disadvantage for this system is the handicap of the internet connectivity in India. Otherwise it is a great idea from Bharat Matrimony
I am seeing Bharatmatrimony ads, but regarding this voice matrimony I am not able to see much ads. Is it yet to take off? I came to know about this only today, thanks to google!!
Either way it is a creative idea.
think this concept is gud and successful. this concept has been copied by monster for their jobsite. let us see whether clickjobs too counterattack monster
