Flickr has definitely become almost every photographer’s favourite choice. Yahoo has even taken the decision to shut down Yahoo! Photos in favour of Flickr.
Well Google via Picasa really has some catching up to do. They recently introduced a pretty cool feature via which you can create Flash slideshows of pictures and embed them in any blog or web page.
Example:
If you are not able to see the above slideshow, have a look at it here.
It gives you the option to display captions of each photograph too.
Flickr had introduced something similar a really long time ago, via which you could embed a neat Flash tool too – which was known as the Flickr Badge
Example can be seen here.
It is definitely time Google integrates Picassa with Orkut. They should allow users to upload, display and view photos on Orkut via Picasa. Allowing users to embed such slideshows on their pages should be the next move. In fact even integration with iGoogle makes sense to some extent.
The mere simplicity of Orkut has been the main reason for Orkut’s enormous success in India – but it is definitely time they start introducing some newer features.
In the next WAT Consult report – we would be revealing some statistics with reference to User Behaviour on Social Networking sites. I.E. average number of scraps per week which go up, number of new friends one adds etc.
