Motorola adds scent to their phone

Just when you thought you had seen it and heard it all here, comes Motorola who recently received a patent for a "Communication device having a scent release feature and method thereof."  What does that mean?? It uses the phone’s battery to heat a replaceable scent pack to 54 degrees Celsius, which releases the fragrance.

"Plug-in units typically provide a stronger scent over a broader area than non-plug-in scented items, given that the scents are activated by the heat energy in the plug-in devices," the patent explains.
Motorola believes "Some cellular telephone users are the same individuals who enjoy having plug-in scent units located around their homes, and may miss not having a nice smelling fragrance while they are on the go," the patent states. "Therefore, a need exists for a communication device such as a cellular telephone that can address some of the above-mentioned problems."

The idea is surely unique and different and will surely create buzz in the industry and among users when it launches.
But what if one is allergic to the scent? What if it causes rashes on the skin or something like that? All of us are different and may not be able to easily adapt to the smell. Well that can only be answered once the phone is out (or if someone from Motorola leaves a comment).

Sony has also tried something similar by launching scented phones which uses scented sheets that produce an aroma when the device is opened.
