We had recently unveiled the logo of Reliance’s dvd rental site called BigFlicks.com. Now news has it that BigFlicks.com has appointed Law & keneth as the creative agency on record. The BigFlicks account size is pegged at over 10 crores.

Moreover it is believed that Reliance Entertainment will pump in around $100 million into Big Flicks over the next few years.

Big Flicks will be setting up three components namely rental, broadband and delivery that are probably aimed at the international market. The company is working on a plan to keep the pricing between Rs 11 and Rs 501 for both DVDs and VCDs.

Now with Reliance looking at the broadband delivery model it puts them directly in competition Rajshri.com and its online broadband entertainment plans which are also more specifically targetted at indians abroad.

I expect real cut throat competition in dvd rentals market with seventymm, madhouse, catchflix, cinespritemoviemart and  now reliance coming into the picture. Its only gonna get better for the consumer as far as home video entertainment is concerned.

  1. $100 million is 400 crores and not 10 crores….you might want to do some research before posting.
and moser baer are the ones who are going to be their biggest competition, you've not even mentioned them. Moser Baer is totally revolutionising dvd market

  2. 10 crore is the total advertising spend as of now.. the 100 million $ would b pumped in the nexxt few years. Also thanks for pointing out moser baer.. guess i let that slip in a hurry :)
