Mobile2win is entering the mobile advertising space. The company is primarily into developing Value Added Services (VAS) for mobile service providers. Mobile2win plan’s to advertise to mobile users in a non-intrusive way which would engage the user. Mobile2win would also be looking at in-game advertising, which has proved successful in online games like Second life.
For branded games they would be having tie-ups with operators and users would be able to download games for free. This is one of the more popular platforms being used by mobile advertisers with companies such as Castrol, Domino’s, Kellogg’s and Thums Up in the act.
Rajiv Hiranandani, CEO of Mobile2win, said that the mobile web is emulating the characteristics of the Internet eight or nine years ago. He added that traffic is increasing on the mobile web and is currently about eight-10 million. Most of this audience is, not surprisingly, in the age group of 15-25 years and most coveted by advertisers.
Hiranandani expects mobile advertising to grow 300 per cent from its current value of Rs 5 crore to Rs 8-15 crore by March 2008.
Hiranandani further added “The best part about mobile advertising is that it can be easily tracked and targeted at a specific audience. The click-through rates on mobile, at 4-5 per cent, are also feasible to advertisers,”
With companies like Reliance Communication offering mobile handsets starting from Rs 777 to Rs 888 and companies like Bharti offering mobile T.V, mobile surely seems to be the way to go.
