Movies and internet go a long way back. Since the time the internet started movies and movie related content has been a prime attraction for users on the internet. So its no surprise to see that movie affiliated branding is being done on the internet. But the one which is soon to happen is an interesting one just because it isn’t the movies using internet to spread awareness its internet brands using a movies popularity to promote their brands.

redifftravelguruSony Pictures which is releasing Spiderman 3 is estimating the film to gross Rs 600 million (Rs 60 crore) at the box office with its 600 prints release in five Indian languages. So joining the bandwagon of cobranded promotions along with brands like HDFC standard life insurance, Hutch, Yamaha, Horlicks and Baskin Robbins there are leading internet brands like Rediff.com and Travelguru.com which plan to cash in on the popularity of the movie. Rediff.com will roll out a co-branded TVC early next week, highlighting their unlimited storage capacity. The key connect would be the concept of unlimited powers of both Spider-Man 3 and Rediff.

Travelguru.com’s association focuses on their positioning; ‘Spider-Man reaches everywhere quickly - Travelguru.com also helps you reach your destinations quickly with the cheapest possible fare’. These ads will be seen across TV, web space and multiplexes.

Seems like the internet is growing up.. earlier it was Movies that were advertising on Internet and now its the other way round. Hmm.. makes me think when will thay make a movie on an internet entrepreneurs life??? Any takers?? ;)
