We first covered Burrp.com back in August when they launched their Mumbai channel.

What is Burrp?
Well it can be defined as a social sharing site for hang-outs!

Their site says:
"burrp! is an online platform where you can search and review local businesses, such as restaurants, bars, nightlife, juice centres, paan shops, bakeries, etc…."

Well the guys at burrp have been planning on a make-over and have sent us a preview screen shot.
Can’t make out too-much of a difference yet, but lets see what they have in mind..

Each joint reviewed should be having members’ rating (Where people can vote etc..),
I guess they are looking to make it more social and promote more activity and user engagement.

Better search facility, according to Business (Restaurant, Bar, Café etc) and according to Cuisine too.

Currently Burrp covers Mumbai, Bangalore, Kolkata…..with Delhi, Hyderabad, Pune and Goa scheduled for a launch soon. I’d personally love to see Pune featured, not only is it the student hub of the country but also that I’ve spent the last 10 years of my life there!

Well continuing on the personal note, how Burrp’s been helpful was – When I needed to find some decent eating joint near my place at Ghatkopar (Suburb in Mumbai) and was pleasantly surprised to find a Little Italy close to my place!

Future plans include splitting the website into two groups- ‘Burrp! Local’ & ‘Burrp! Life’. Burrp local will be city specific and will expand into newer categories of local content (e.g. local events), while Burrp Life will focus on the lifestyle segment. The online magazine Blah blah.burrp.com, that they launched some time back is probably a build-up to this strategy. Also on the anvil are plans for introducing SMS-based and IVR-based search mentions Amit at Webyantra.

Well they are still looking out for VC funding – but the way I see it, a lifestyle brand (Coca Cola perhaps?) which has a national presence should be the ones backing something like this.
