If you thought there were already enough players fighting it out in the travel scene (think yatra.com, travelguru.com, makemytrip.com and the recently launched travelocity) then think again. Yahoo is looking to venture into the travel scene as well.

According to George Zacharias MD Yahoo India market in India has huge potential given the kind of business that is being transacted on the net for travel-related services. “We want to be in this space and we should be finalising our partner pretty soon,” he said.

So after making a strategic investment in BharatMatrimony.com its time for a new travel portal to have a yahoo connection. Internationally yahoo has a very comprehensive database of travel destinations across the world so an investment or partnership with a travel portal in India makes great business sense for both yahoo and the probable travel portal.

Yahoo has still not indicated which portal would be in the running but George Zacharias MD Yahoo India has said "It may not necessarily be through a strategic investment pact like BharatMatrimony. There are all possibilities and we will sign a win-win deal for both parties,"
