Internet! Woh kya hai?
According to a recent study conducted by LIRNEasia (Learning Initiatives on Reforms for Network Economies - Asia) along with AC Nielsen, a more-than-considerable number (72%) of people in India have no clue as to what the ‘internet’ is.
Well the first thought going through your head must be – in a country where nearly 70% of the population is still directly or indirectly dependent on agriculture for their livelihood, obviously the rural internet penetration would be minuscule and internet awareness would undoubted-ly be less. Well here’s something which is shocking: About 67% Indians residing in urban areas have not heard about Internet.
Awareness about Internet is clearly more in Pakistan than India. Nearly 36% people at the bottom of pyramid in Pakistan have never heard about Internet. Only 24% urbanites are unfamiliar with Internet, against 49% in rural areas, reports Financial Express
