Google news the news aggregating engine by google has now gone desi and would aggregate news in Hindi. This announcement from google comes shortly after the announcement with regards to the transliteration in hindi available in Blogger.

Google News in Hindi, based on Google’s innovative clustering technology, gathers news stories from various Hindi news sources and presents a ranked one page view with links to users favourite news sources in their favourite news sections. 
"Google is committed to promoting the creation and consumption of content in Indian languages and we’re proud to launch our first Indian language edition for Google News and Blogger. These launches will enable our Hindi-speaking users to express themselves better and access information in a language they are comfortable with," said Prasad Ram, centre head, R&D, Google India.

Its no surprise that google is targetting the hindi market as the hindi speaking audience is probably the largest in India. Also the offline hindi print players are having a large readership so it only makes sense to offer hindi content online which attracts a larger audience.
