I got this idea after reading similar posts on svn. There are lot of sites with cool features. Lot of discussions/thinking goes behind in making the interface of the final blueprint of the web-site. Yes there is obvious difference in interfaces whether the page is just a website page or actaul web-application. I am not much into websites designing and being a developer I find some of the following interfaces pretty cool features as behind this simple interface there is rock solid application. Such features make end users life really simple. He/She is given all the preferred/well thought interfaces to access the application. In general we do have lot of user trainig to access applications and waste lot of time and money to revise interfaces and features supporting them.

This is random post and screenshots pasted over here are some the pages i have accessed in last 2 hours and I liked them. There will be lot of future posts under the same heading :)

This one is from moneycontrol.com.

  • Good choices for the end user. He can decide what he/she wants to read from the multi-page article.
  • Similar thing is there on dpreview.com for review of digital cameras but that one populates select box. This hanging div is good choice in "wizard" kinda things

This one is for ’site map". There need not be separate request to fetch site-map page. Similar page was also present on jackbe.com. Such approacehes are really helpful even from the web application point of view. Think code coverage, unit testing and deciding link priorities. Thinking makes lifes simple.Don’t you think ? ;)

Next one is IE7 quick tabs feature. Quite obvious; this one is missing in my favorite firefox 2.0. Have a look

Next one is backbase login screen. I liked this as any site/application login screen has minimal fields so need not be separate screen. A modal popup is sufficient for login. try out this

This is my favorite web application. Look to what extent this simple interface provides complete functionality. It has impressed backbase also; and they have implemented the same interfce in their demo section. Good application don’t need publicity. They easily connect to end user. If i want to describe whole functionality; it will take more than 1000 words I guess. visit kayak.com and try out evrything there; especially the search functionality. Is there any other cool ajax application than this? This slider widget was not very common cross web applications. But now it seems its really cool widget. It could be with one knob to act as selector or wih two knobs to act as a range selector
