EPO may reach $2.4 Billion within 3 years
EPO may be the next big thing to Indian outsourcing story
Education Process Outsourcing(EPO) Business opportunity came in because of a law called No child left behind act. The law aims to improve the performance of students and cut federal aid ( US govt gives 12 billion $ in aid to schools) to schools with poor results.
The problem is about 40% of seventh grade students fail in maths and english. Schools in order to improve performance goes to tutors and supplemental education service providers like tutor.com , esylvan.com who charge about 40$- 100$ a hour. The same work if outsourced can be done at much cheaper cost.Careerlauncher and Educomp Datamatics first spotted the opportunity. Both follow different business models. Careerlaucher sub-contract work from SES providers where as Educomp directly approaches schools to get tutor services outsourced to them.EMR estimates the k-12 market size of tutoring business around $8 billion of which online tutoring is around 2.7 Billion $ India now earns around 15 million USD per year from online tutoring –10 per cent of the total market share.
