YouTube In Red Again
Email It!
It seems Google is again having problems with YouTube a month or so after it said it it was in negotiations with various stakeholders. We have already have written a few articles related to its problem related to Orkut. But this time around Google doesn’t seem to be anywhere near to settling deals related to IP rights with various distributors. Also in a email by Viacom to TechCrunch it voices the same concerns of Google not being serious in this matter and just bidding for time.
YouTube’s sizable traffic is related to various streaming T.V. content. But with this coming to a hold it would be just another Google Video. Also this opens us a huge market for smaller players as they can easily escape the legal net. Many bloggers are citing similarities between Napster and YouTube.
The question is can Google be held liable for copyright infringement which the end users do. I am no legal expert, but i think Google has to come clean on certain issues and where it stands.
