Hinsustan Times: Social networks be it orkut or the others have been troubled with the illegal, pornographic and other such activities that have tarnished their image to the point of getting them banned by the Indian Government. So now it seems these sites are taking the route of moderation by employing young freshers as moderators to keep trouble makers and their conteent outside their sites.

These youngsters are paid Rs 12,000-Rs 15,000 a month to ensure that flirting does not end up in abuse, distasteful content is  not dumped online and people do not fight. Moderators work in eight-hour shifts to provide a 24/7 service.

“Social networking is growing in India and can post a million benefits if properly promoted. With authenticated groups, we want to provide our users a cleaner platform,” said Navin Mittal, business head, Fropper.com.

Would this affect their traffic?? I guess yes.. after all its the fanatics and the wierdo’s who have all the tim to express their extremism! And orkut and other social networks provide that freedom and openess and if taken away there may be a possibility to lose a sizable user base.
