guruji.comGuruji.com the now famous local search engine which got a huge 7 Million $ as funding from Sequioa will bring regional language search in Hindi, Kannada and Telugu in the next couple of months. Also a search engine for cell phones will be brought to the market in three months. according to Anurag Dod, co-founder and CEO, Guruji.com. By December 2007, the company plans to launch regional language search for 10 Indian languages.

As far as the reach of guruji local search is concerned it will be looking at covering 30 cities over the next six months, up from the 16 cities currently covered.

Besides going regional and increasing its reach Guruji.com will look at raising another $10 million to support growth plans, the company would use the money, primarily to create a brand name for the domestic search engine.

Hmm.. create a brand name! Well that would be a first for the internet! Trying to create traffic for a search engine through branding! Rediff has tried it through radio advertising but have not been too successful! But i guess with 7 million dollars and 10 million more (thats if they are able to raise it) they should atleast have enough money to build a brand! Point is whether it really works! For all the money thats gone and would be going in.. I really hope that it does..
