Rediff becomes wise about money!
Email It!
Rediff is testing a stocks and mutual fund portfolio management site known as Rediff Moneywise. Im not too much of a financial guy so i purely looked at the site from the usability perspective.
There are some very noteworthy features that this site has. Firstly is the comparison of stocks which has the alexa.com feel to it. (Screen shot given below)
And the other noteworthy feature was the hot and cold investment option (Screenshot given below)

Both these features are easy to use understand and gave a good idea for any investor whether young or old a good idea as to what stocks to invest in.
Besides these to build interactivity into the site there is an option for users to comment on each stock and guide, query and help each other.. Much like what happens in blog comments.
But besides all these features the best part about Rediff moneywise is the easy signup process.. I click on the the add button besides any stock and it asks me the quatity that i have bought it at, the price and the date and the next page just asks me to input my email.. once its validated that the email not a spam email then im asked to input a password.. and thats it! No long forms no information asked about me!
This short sign up process takes me to my personal portfolio management account on rediff where i can manage my investments, setup alerts, read tips by brokers and even rearrange the entire account the way i want through a click and drop function on each box. So if i need to see the brokers tips on top right i can do that by just a click drag and drop!
The only thing i think the site can improve upon is an embed on your site option for all the comparison graphs that it shows up. What this does is that financial bloggers and other content providers can use these graphs and in effect publicize the rediff moneywise site. Also the comparison should be available for more than 2 companies at a time.
But all in all its an impressive effort more because rediff is known to be a media company but this new product is right up there when it comes to usability and technology.
I guess other portfolio management sites like valueresearchonline.com and others would be weary of rediff’s move into this space.

Adding to what has been told here, i think rediff and valueresearch are just small players in the fundamental analysis scope. There are much larger and bigger players such as indiainfoline.com, indiainfo.com and of course paid services from equitymaster.com.
Then there is Technical Analysis. There are a bunch of websites propping up in this area. http://www.dlngroup.com is the leader in this space and i personally love this site as there is so much to research from technical perspective.
TA is still in its early stages in india and i am happy to see sites such as dlngroup.com. There are others too in this space, but nobody can come close to dln site.
