Best New Year greeting!

Well have you ever thought that a new year greeting could be a great advertising tool for a companies services? And no im not talking about a new year party organising company! What about a search marketing company?
Well i recently got an email from Pinstorm and was pleasantly surprised to see their smart new year greeting and just had to blog about it!
Here is what their greeting was all about..
I got the following mail..
"Hi Rajiv Dingra,
Ever searched for your name on Google?
If you haven’t, click on the link below and you might just be in for a pleasant surprise!

Seasons Greetings from Mahesh Murthy, Pinstorm Technologies."
If you click on the above given link you will be taken to the search page on which my name that is "Rajiv Dingra" is being searched and on teh right column you should see a greeting like this..
On clicking the above link i was sent to the actual greeting page which looked like this..
Read the above words carefully.. It says "perfectly targetted" which is a way of saying Pinstorm brings you perfectly targetted results! And what better way to demonstrate that than bidding on my Name and making me feel that im important to them!
I feel the above new year greeting is likely to get more clients for Pinstorm than any other marketing gimmick!
There are three things that the above new year greeting did to me as a prospective client for Pinstorm.. It "delighted" me coz it was personalized, it carved the "positioning" of Pinstorm in my mind i.e. "perfectly targetted search marketing" and ofcourse it made me blog about them which is "word of mouth" even without trying their services!
And though this is in context of online marketing but the same principles could be applied to any marketing and the results would be the same.
