Bloggers have discovered Sony has been running a fake PSP fan site Alliwantforxmasisapsp.com. Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) has confessed it hired a marketing company to create a fake blog to surge Christmas demand for its PlayStation Portable.Sony hired a marketing and advertising company Zipatoni who created a blog for a so called fan (Peter) who praises PSP as part of their ad campaign for Sony

Sony later confessed:
As many of you have figured out Peter isn’t a real hip-hop maven and this site was actually developed by Sony. Guess we were trying to be just a little too clever. From this point forward, we will just stick to making cool products, and use this site to give you nothing but the facts on the PSP.

Couple of months back users also discovered (rather investigated) a fake Wall- Mart blog created by their PR Agency Edelman www.walmartingacrossamerica.com and was similarly blasted

US Federal Trade Commission issued a statement on Monday according to which Internet advertisements must unambiguously identify themselves as advertising

Moral of the story: Don’t be too smart
