The Hindu Business Line: TravelPort India, has acquired 100 per cent stake in Sri Balaji Tours and Travels which had a strong presence in Goa. Travelport plans to market Goa to regions such as Central Europe and to launch a online portal specifically for Goa goaonline.com .

UPDATED BY RAJIV: This is not a bad time to start such a portal keeping in mind the season time for Goa travel. Also this portal show’s that generiac portals in spaces such as travel, jobs, matrimony and real estate wont work any more.. So one has to look at considerable large niche markets. So Goa is a probably the most visited tourist location in India and gets visitors internationally! So a goa centric portal though to skeptics might seem a waste keeping in mind the several other travel portals but my gut feeling says it may be a master stroke..
