Business Standard: PVR cinemas establishing an exclusive tie-up with Tagit – a Singapore-based mobile technology services company – to pilot barcode scanning system that makes ticket booking virtual. If the tickets are booked over
the telephone, through an interactive voice response system (IVRS) or mobile application, a 2D picturemessage containing a barcode would be text-messaged on the moviegoer’s mobile phone

Currently being tested in Bangalore and Hyderabad multiplex, this technology will be available in Mumbai and Delhi by January 2007. Inox Leisure too has been experimenting with a hand-held booking device in Bangalore is doing close to three to four per cent sales through the device
