mtv backpack holidayThe Hindu Business Line: MTV has joined hands with travel portal Travelguru to launch MTV Backpack Holidays. MTV Backpack Holidays features custom-made adventure-travel packages for the youth, and will be available across Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore.

travelguruHrishikesh and Haridwar near Delhi, Kihim and Karjat near Mumbai and Antargange and Rangaswamy Hills near Bangalore are among the locations where packages are offered.

Updated by Rajiv: Such tie ups are interesting ways for both the portal and tv channels to cross brand and leverage their strengths. In this particular case MTV gets the attention of its target audience which are backpakers and Travelguru gets the attention of the youth which are online users as well as hold the spending power for travel. So a win win situation for both. Moreover as most of the travel sites are heavily funded such tieups with other media partners like print, radio and tv can be expected in the future.

  1. What about oktatabybye.com? One of the earliest attempts at building a travel 'community' in India. There was some buzz initiallym but the site doesn't see much of an action now.

More than offering travel packages, I'd be interested in a service/website where I can get the information from tourists. That would be invaluable, something similar to geobeats.com. Or is there such a service available already?!

  2. well we had reviewed India's forums in which i came across a site http://www.indiamike.com which was the most comprehensive travel community i have seen.. :))
