 Zapak.com the gaming portal which is backed by Reliance ADA Group, will soon have a new ‘Zapak TV’ feature, which will offer audio visual content such as online game reviews, features on online gaming, news on the online gaming industry as well as contests, presented by video jockeys and gamers.

Zapak currently is a casual online gaming portal, with around 150 games on board but its future plans include venturing into Massively Multiplayer Online Games (MMOG) content. And for this purpose Reliance ADA Group would be pumping in 100 crores into this gaming site.

So how does Zapak plan to spend these 100 crores? Well Zapak already has tie ups with 10 studios which provide 20 casual, flash based games to Zapak, on a monthly basis. Moreover, they are comping up with gaming cafes, ‘Zapak Zones’ across 100 Indian cities within the next two years! WOW!

So does gaming have such a huge potential in india? Well the following stats should answer that question..

The market data illustrates these facts clearly. The global gaming market was estimated at $19 billion in 2005, and was expected to grow to $36 billion by 2009. (Source: Nasscom).

As for India, the 2005 market figures for gaming development show a teensy $30 million. However, Nasscom projects this market growing at a CAGR of 78 percent to reach $300 million by 2009.
