Monster traffic surges by 238%! (does it matter?)

According to this Press release Monsterindia.com claims thats its traffic has surged by 238% in July-Sept 06 compared to the same period last year. It also states that Monsterindia.com acquired 62% more new resumes than the nearest competitor’s (Thats a hint to Naukri.com if you did not get it!) claimed new resume inflow.
They have attributed the high traffic growth to their TV campaign an "Caught in the wrong job?" which was launched in April ‘06.
Ok now here is a question that came to my mind.. How does it matter how many resumes a job site gets! I mean isn’t the goal of a job site to provide relevant candidates to employers and relevant jobs to candidates?
What i feel concerned about is that most jobsites are working in the online classifieds mode where their entire focus is large resumes numbers and sales to employers and companies.. But has that solved the problem of recruitment in the country? I mean does naukri.com and monster know how many irrelevant resumes are sent to employers? I posted a job on naukri and out of all the responses i got 90% did not match the profile.. I am sure the other job portals have a similar story.. Also lets take database access.. If you have tried calling up candidates from a database you would know that 1 in 10 will agree for an interview.. Also if you think its just me facing this problem! read this
So what should be the future of jobsites? Let us take the example of google adwords which revolutionised online advertising across the world by making it pay for performance i.e. you pay per click instead of impressions and you can track your conversions.
I think the future of all classifieds has to move towards a pay for performance method. And i say this not because the current method is wrong but because the internet is a medium that has the ability to deliver pay for performance and allow companies to be profitable as well.
