TED – bringing together achievers and innovators in Technology, Entertainment and Design.
TED brings together the best brains in the fields of Technology, Entertainment and Design or for that matter as the website says..Business, Sciences and The Arts..infact ANY subject area offering anything fresh and important. It is currently hosted by Chris Anderson and manged by his non-profit – The Sampling Foundation.
The TED blog is indeed a very informative resource, but what’s interesting is the TED Prize. The recepients of the TED prize receive $100,000 each and more importantly, are granted one wish to change the world. The TED community will contribute in making that wish come true. For example, 2006 TED Prize winner Bono’s wish led to the formation of The One Campaign. Among the previous winners include Google.org’s Executive Director Dr.Larry Brilliant. More about the previous winners here.
But what’s of immensely informative and useful is the TED Talks section. Listen/Watch interesting people like Jimmy Wales, Malcolm Gladwell, Steven Levitt of Freakonomics among others, talk about their respective fields. Ah, and in the case of Steven Levitt, field probably is to be taken literally, for the field research conducted with the drug gangs by Sudhir Venkatesh. Some pretty interesting list of names there – Nicholas Negroponte of the One laptop per child project, Ross Lovegrove, well-known for his design work on the Walkman and iMac and Kevin Kelly, editor-at-large of Wired magazine.
Well, this is one thing I would definitely recommend as must watch!
