We have written before about Saas (Software as a service) market in India and about its growth potential which is exponential in the coming years. Software as a Service (SaaS) has showed strong growth in adoption levels across Asia in 2005, and is poised for stronger growth going forward, according to a Springboard Research market research study. The regional market (excluding Japan) saw SaaS revenues increase over 80 percent to US$80 million in 2005, and is expected to grow to US$501 million by 2008. Read More about software as a service here.

So looking at this trend its no surprise that a telecom giant and a software giant have joined hands to provide Saas solutions o the ever growing SMB (Small and medium businesses) market in India. Bharti Airtel Ltd. said on Monday that it has entered into a strategic partnership with Microsoft Corp. to offer a range of software and services for small and medium businesses (SMBs) in India.

This service is predominantly aimed at companies with five or more employees, and is expected to be available in January, Bharti Airtel said. These companies will now be able to enjoy the same experience as large enterprise customers without initial investments using a pay-as-you-go model more commonly known as software as a service.

The other important players in this market are Salesforce.com and IBM. With such big companies investing in this segment i expect more and more adoption of Saas.
