66% Young asians use internet daily!

IndianTelevision: Synovate a global market research company has released the findings from a survey of young asians aged eight to 24, revealing their product ownership patterns, spending habits, favourite brands, idols and aspirations.
The survey was conducted among a total of 11,590 youth from affluent and mass households across ten Asian markets were surveyed. The countries covered include China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, South Korea, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand.

 

There are some very interesting finds about the internet usage and habits of young asians. The study finds that among 15-24 year old asians

81 per cent use the web to search for information

76 per cent correspond interactively

72 per cent download music, videos or software

68 per cent access search engines

52 per cent listen to the radio or music

41 per cent play online games

The study also states the time spent on activities by young asians

Instant messaging  - 3 hours per day

Emails - 1.5 hours per day

Online community activities - 1.4 hours per day

And the now the most interesting find..

Two thirds i.e. 66% of young Asians aged 15 to 24 use internet on a daily basis (Do keep in mind the survey was taken of individuals who have access to internet)

The above research findings suggest that as the young asian generations grows a little older and its spending power grows they could be the generation which brings about the internet revolution in Asia especially with online ecommerce and success of online communities already showing with orkut becoming a craze in India
