Reliance communications is launching online video streming on mobile phones starting with a mobile cast of Microsoft CEO Steve balmer.
RCL is believed to be looking at video streaming of popular events in a big way and use the mobile device to transmit single location events to millions of its subscribers across the country and tiein up with event management companies to provide content. Relaince had a tie up with Times Now to provide video news content on Reliance India Mobile cell phones in India,
In video streaming, the content sits in a separate server and comes to the phone when you ask
for it. The quality of viewing here depends on your connection speed. The sale of content for mobile phones users will be more difficult in India,because of custoemrs not so intrested in watching live events on a small mobile screen and poor quality, less penetration of TV compatable mobiles.An estimated 250,000 video clips are downloaded in India mostly 90 to 120 second shots
