MoneyControl: BharatMatrimony.com Pvt. Ltd which recently got funded and also got fined has announced that the company has entered into the prestigious Limca Book of Records, the Indian equivalent of Guinness Book of World records. The matrimony portal has made a record of facilitating highest number of marriages than any other Indian website over a period of seven years. (From 1999 to 2006)

While Shaadi.com might not have said anything about this record feat claimed by Bharatmatrimony and now recognized by Limca Book of Records.

Murugavel Janakiraman, Founder & CEO, BharatMatrimony Group certainly had something to say, This is what he said  “BharatMatrimony has been consistently rated as India’s number one matrimony service provider by several leading third party research organizations. Our entry into the Limca Book of Records is a true testimony to our commitment of being a responsible and innovative matrimonial website.”

While its great to have got into the record books one really wonders how many of those recod breaking couples would have paid bharatmatrimony? I mean were they premium members? Did they add anything to the bottomline?

Well according to an article in the Economic Times The online matrimony business is already worth Rs 100 crore and is growing at over 100% a year. Wow! sounds like a dream doesn’t it! 100 crores! 100%! When was the last time round figures proved to be authentic? Im really not sure.. ;)
