Chinese markets have always known to be bigger than indian markets be it manufacturing or now online advertising. So China’s market for online advertisements is expected to be worth a whopping US$2 billion by 2010!

The revenue from online ads in 2005 increased by 45 percent from 2004, while newspaper ad revenue dropped by 1 percent.

Interactive advertisements in particular have rapidly grown in popularity during this period. The value of the market for interactive advertisements surged to 4.17 billion yuan, or US$527 million, an increase of 78.4. This figure is predicted to rise to 6.5 billion yuan or US$822 million.

Well when compared to china the Indian online advertising revenues in India are expected to grow to a projected size of 750 crore rupees i.e. just 150 million dollars by 2010. Thats less than 10% of china’s revenues! Though the growth year on year till 2010 is expected to be 50% which is more than an other medium like television or print.

Makes me wonder whether we are a little early as far as an internet revolution is concerned? may be India would a booming market by 2014-15? Honestly im not sure but the figures do point to a very nascent online advertising market when compared to global figures.
