DNAindia: We had mentioned earlier how yahoo was planning to launch regional language chat in India and how MSN and Rediif had already launched the same in the markets. So here it is Yahoo India on Wednesday launched a new feature ‘Indichat’ in its yahoo messenger that would enable users to chat in Hindi and Tamil even without a language keyboard.
According to Yahoo! India Managing Director George Zacharias Chat and e-mail are two of most important uses of Internet. Indichat will allow you to chat with your friends in Hindi or other regional languages
Yahoo will launch the messenger in 14-16 languages in next few quarters he concluded.
According to me localisation of content is a major shift that we are seeing in the Internet today and maybe its both required and beneficial for the future of the Internet and its penetration among Indian Masses.
