Railways coming up with internet in running trains
Posted by Praneeth on October 12th, 2006.
Indian railways are planning to provide internet services in running trains soon, reports Times of India Railtel had succesfully carried out tests on few trains and soon plans to launch it in select trains. Railtel is also keen on providing connectivity to tourists visiting small towns through LAN. Under the new system, a wireless LAN is to be created in the coaches through a transmitter placed inside them.
Updated by Rajiv - With hardly any space to move in trains (especially in mumbai) with the crowd i am still wondering how helpful this would be..

At least initially the adapters of this service would be people travelling in higher classes where space is not a problem. Even in other coaches, in long distance trains there seems to be enough space where people can use their laptops. So I think it still could be very useful.
