indiatimesWell.. well.. well.. Talk about a 360 degree turnaround.. Within just two days since the anti blogger’s article "Blogger’s Rubbish" was released by TimesofIndia and a reply was blogged by us another article "Blogger’s Park" has been published in Indiatimes. This article could be seen as a move to pacify the blogging community as it mentions quite a few bloggers and their reasons to blog which varies from freedom of speech to having one’s own space. The article is not promoting blogging but in a way pointing out the reasons why people blog in a "positive light".. here is how the article starts "Did you know why the CEO of a retail Company fired ten employees from his team? Were you aware of the fact that the Managing Director of a multinational company is an ex-Miss India?

Did you know that the winner of the ‘Businessman of the year’ award was actually a vegetable vendor before a million-dollar business idea struck him? Today, an averagely inquisitive reader can find all the replies to the above questions by reading the blogs of high-ranking executives. Gone are the days, when diaries were considered ‘personal’ stuff to be hidden under your pillow.

Through corporate blogging, these executives are encouraging open communication with the company’s stakeholders, consumers and employees"

Well suddenly bloggers dont seem as "half-witted" to the Times Group as they did two days back.. Talk about changing stance in a matter of days. But nevertheless atleast they are making an effort to balance things out. So what if we (the bloggers) wont get an apology from the Times management i guess an article of this sort atleast puts the positive side of blogging into perspective.

Also in related news Corporates are not only blogging but also scanning blogs for customer feedback and though blogs form a miniscule part of method of customer feedback right now. Its role in the future cannot be denied.

  1. 1. the turn is 180 degrees and not 360 degrees.
    2. indiatimes might not have done it coz you blogged on their first article. Maybe it was a 2-articles series presenting two different opinions on blogging.
    3. try to put a bit more perspective into your posts — IMHO, just publishing 5 news items everyday is not going to help. Contentsutra and others do it very well. The current state will not take you to webyantra or GIGAOM if you intend it to.

  2. Thanks Neeraj.. Loved your critical feedback.. But just to clarify.. I never mentioned whether they posted after reading my article.. To me i saw two articles which were opposite view points coming from the same publishing company.. Also Im sure something as small as WATblog wont affect Indiatimes and make them do something.. And really we are not trying to emulate be it content sutra webyantra and certainly not giga om i think they are fantastic in what they do and i dont think we can ever come close to them.. I think WATblog over time will evolve having its own identity.. as we are very young as of now.. and such comparisons or even aspirations would be wrong.. But its great to know you read WATblog.. keep the suggestions coming .. Thanks :)
