Updated by Rajiv: Its not surprising to see such a move by Bharat matrimony as its a well known fact that Indian mobile users are far greater than internet users. Also another fact that reiterates the importance of internet access through mobile or the importance of the mobile market is that the registry for .mobi the exclusive domain extension for content viewable on mobile yesterday unveiled that
more than 100,000 .mobi domains have been registered in the first four days of the domain’s general availability! Now if thats still not an some indication of how internet on mobile might be the next big thing then this should give you an even bigger indication.. Nokia has launched a web site/service
to enable end users to configure web content of their choice for deliver to their mobile phones, of any brand and for information providers - bloggers, site owners, etc - to optimise their content for delivery to cellphones. This web site is known as WidSets that delivers content from websites of their choice direct to their java-enabled cellphones using RSS.
So it seems that the future for mobile related content and interne access from mobile looks as bright as ever!..

why indian media is not giving any importance to domain name industry? You can see chinese people registered lot of the premium .mobi names, after usa. Their media is giving good coverage to .mobis. Even big indian companies also dont like to register .mobis ! eg, tcl, wipro…mobi names registered by foreigners.
I think, .mobi will be a good success within 1-2 years. flowers.mobi purchased by .com king, Mr.Rick for $200k, fun.mobi for $100k by anything.com…etc.
